About Jen
Welcome to my blog on my home-owning adventure! I’ve had a busy first year of home ownership, and have finally made time to track all of the ups and downs of owning my home, as a singleton. Even if you, dear reader, are not into home decorating, I ask you to read on because having a home is about living, and that’s what we’re all doing.
This blog isn’t like others on home decorating/ownership, because I’m not some glossy Pinterest-perfect housewife with a 3,000 sq ft house in suburbia, unlimited money at my disposal because my husband has some cushy job and a fat bank account, and 2 kids named Twig and Leaf.
Here’s my reality: I turned 50 recently, have a fantastic job that I believe in, have family and lots of friends close by me in NJ, and I love my new home. I dote on my nephew, who was my first houseguest, and love that he’s always interested in knowing what my latest fix-it project is. With this house, there have been many projects to do since day 1. I’m the only one paying the bills, so I’ve had to get creative to be able to make the space my own. At the same time, I’ve dealt with unexpected issues and repairs because the house was in “move-in-ish” condition, which has been an illusion in some ways…
